Fiona Smith

ANATD, AAC1, BA (Hons), DipSW, MA

Fiona is the principal of our dance school which she attended herself from 1988 onwards. Fiona has NATD Associate dance teacher qualifications in Tap, Modern and Ballet (gaining Distinctions in all three) and NATD Diplomas in Contemporary and Gymnastic Dance teaching. Fiona is also an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor. Fiona grew up in Cheadle Hulme and trained at local dance schools. Fiona’s continued professional development has included classes at Broadway Dance Center (2003, 2013) where she had the fortune of taking a masterclass with Savion Glover. Fiona has taught dance in a wide variety of settings including schools, charities and community groups. Fiona’s choreography credits include Humbug (Royal Opera House, York 2000), High School Musical (Stockport Plaza, 2008) and Barnum (Brookdale Theatre, 2009).
Jennifer Bates

ANATD, AAC1, BA (Hons)

Jennifer started her dance training at age 5, progressing through NATD examinations and competing in national festivals. After studying dance at GCSE and A level she gained a place at De Montfort University in Leicester receiving a BA Hons in Contemporary Dance 2:1.

After university, Jennifer worked for a year teaching dance and sports in primary schools. Jennifer joined Fiona Watson School of Dance in September 2015 and now has an NATD Associate dance teacher qualification in Ballet and NATD Diplomas in Contemporary and Gymnastic Dance teaching. Jennifer is also an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor.
Emma Ward

Ba (Hons), PGCE with QTS, ANATD

Emma joined the dance school in 1994 and was one of the first JTAs before leaving for university. After completing a degree in Dance Performance and Teaching and a PGCE in General Primary, Emma returned to the dance school to complete her Associates in Tap in 2017 (achieving distinction) and has gone on to complete an NATD Diploma in Gymnastic Dance Teaching and Contemporary Dance Teaching.
